The COVID-19 lockdown was a time when life suddenly slowed down, and we were all stuck at home with very little to do. Days felt long, and there was a strange sense of emptiness around. One day, out of nowhere, I felt this strong urge to create something—to express myself through art. That’s when I decided to start Mandala art.
What started as a simple way to pass time quickly became a journey of self-discovery. For nearly two years, I immersed myself in Mandala art, creating intricate patterns and designs that reflected my thoughts, emotions, and imagination. Drawing Mandalas gave me a sense of calm and peace—it felt like meditation. As Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” I could truly feel this as every line and color seemed to wash away stress and bring serenity.
During this journey, I also explored spirituality through my art. I created Mandala designs inspired by Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna, combining creativity with devotion. Each piece was not just art, but a form of prayer, a way to connect with my inner self and the divine.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.”
In the same way, each Mandala I drew felt like a whole universe of peace and mindfulness contained in tiny patterns.
Mandala art taught me patience, focus, and mindfulness. It became my therapy, my escape, and my meditation all at once. During the uncertainty of lockdown, it reminded me that even in stillness, creativity and joy can flourish.
Looking back, I am grateful that the lockdown gave me this gift. Through Mandala art, I not only learned a beautiful creative skill but also found a path to inner peace, inspiration, and spiritual connection.
As Henry Matisse wisely said, “Creativity takes courage.”
And indeed, taking that small step to start creating art changed my life in ways I could never have imagined.
